The Rev. Lissa Anne Gundlach is Senior Minister at Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church, a progressive spiritual community serving Pasadena and the Greater Los Angeles County area. Lissa most recently hails from New York City, where she served with Rev. Galen Guengerich as the Assistant Minister for Congregational Life at the Unitarian Church of All Souls. Her call to ministry was born in the cradle of transcendentalism as a youth at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Concord, Massachusetts. Lissa received her BA in Religious Studies from Vassar College and her Masters in Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary. Lissa completed her ministerial internship with Revs. Rob and Janne Eller-Isaacs at Unity Unitarian Church in St. Paul Minnesota, and was ordained at the Unitarian Church of All Souls, NYC.
A New England native and lifelong Unitarian Universalist, Lissa’s ministry is dedicated to nurturing and growing vibrant, large congregations which inspire our members and friends to live authentic and joyful lives of purpose and connection. When Lissa isn’t at church, she can be found exploring the urban cultural sanctuaries and abundant natural beauty of California, or taking her ministry beyond the borders of the congregation and into the world. A powerful preacher and creative worship leader, Lissa is also a trained community organizer and committed activist dedicated to racial, economic, environmental, and LGBTQ justice.
Lissa is thrilled to join staff and members of Neighborhood Church in co-creating an inclusive, justice-centered “beloved community” for persons of all ages, experiences, and identities within and beyond our walls. To foster and share beloved community, Neighborhood offers opportunities for creative, life-affirming spiritual practices and values-centered lifelong learning. We encourage our members and friends to become leaders and to make a positive difference in our community and our world.
Lissa feels very blessed to serve Neighborhood UU Church with the amazing staff and congregational leadership. Lissa would welcome the opportunity to connect with you and your family and get to know your story. She is available for pastoral care and counseling appointments, and to help individuals and couples create unique ceremonies and rituals to honor life’s cycles and seasons, including weddings, memorials, and baby blessings.
You are welcome at Neighborhood!
