I have been a member of Neighborhood Church for over 17 years and was honored to serve the congregation as a staff member for the past 10 years.
This year’s canvass theme “Richness through Giving” is particularly poignant for me. In all the years I have been a member, the church could always count on my pledge – though some years it went up and some years down based on that year’s circumstance. What did not fluctuate however, was the richness I received from giving to this beloved community. You have walked alongside me as I raised my children in this village, you have encouraged me to embrace my authentic self, you stood by me in my life’s difficult moments and transitions, and now you welcome my girlfriend Kelly with open and loving arms.
My financial circumstances have changed dramatically this year and I have had to reduce or eliminate most of my charitable giving. I have to budget carefully to make my monthly electronic payment. But Neighborhood remained as my top priority when I recently submitted my pledge card to the Stewardship team for the 2018/2019 fiscal year.
This home is ours and it’s up to each of us to support its important mission. How richer we are when we welcome all who may need the love and encouragement to live their full lives – opening our doors with our message of love and justice. Please join me in supporting this important community.
The 2018-2019 Pledge Campaign is underway. Please consider submitting your pledge at anytime through Sunday, March 11, online or in person every Sunday after service.
