CUUPS Imbolc

Located in Ross Chapel, beginning at 7:00pm

Join us as we celebrate Imbolc, a time of magical energy related to the feminine aspect of the goddess, of new beginnings, and of fire. It is the height of the winter season and a reminder that spring is around the corner. Originally associated with the lambing season, Imbolc means “in the belly” and celebrates the pagan Celtic warrior and triune goddess Brigid, who is the goddess of domesticity, inspiration, creativity, healing, smith craft and poetry. This is a time to reaffirm life and start thinking about the coming harvest season. Brigid represents the light half of the year and the power that will bring people from the dark season of winter into spring. In her honor, we will be doing a meditation about transformation, accompanied by an activity that supports a deeper experience of this process.

We invite you to help decorate the altar with colors of red, white, and green. Bring items that represent Imbolc such as the Brigid crosscorn doll, or plants that symbolize new growth. Items that represent Brigid such as a hammer, cauldron, incense, or candles. Healing herbs, a book of poetry or a poem you’ve written.

Songs: Any song suggestions? Try a week or so before so we can print them. How about now while you’re thinking of it?
Instruments: Whatever you play, and you can carry. Leave the baby grand at home. Oh, I think there is a baby grand already in the chapel.
Altar: Items you wish blessed with this incredible energy.
Mess kit: Plate, Cup, Eating Utensils, Napkin.
Potluck Feast: Please let us know what you are bringing for the feast (see below).

Again, it is a potluck so please bring a potluck dish, a drink to share, and your mess kit. In keeping with loving Mother Earth, we choose to reduce waste by not providing paper products.
