Music Programs

Welcome to a place that is artistically inspiring, dynamically inclusive, and spiritually awake. Welcome to a place where music and the arts are vital to the fabric of worship. Welcome to Music at Neighborhood Church!

In all our music-making, we honor our commitment to musical excellence, interpersonal connection, and service to our community. We carefully select all hymns, anthems, and instrumental music accordingly in conjunction with our ministerial team. With a terrific music staff and various opportunities for musically-inclined church members and guests to participate in our performance groups, we are building a diverse and inclusive community where all musicians are cherished and uplifted.

Please see below for our programs and more information. If you want get involved but are not ready or able to join one of our music ensembles, please register here.

Dr. Zanaida Robles, Music Director

Neighborhood Bells

Led by F. Thomas Simpson, this non-auditioned instrumental ensemble meets from September through May with rehearsals on Tuesday nights from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm. All supplies are provided, and no audition or experience is necessary (though basic sight-reading skills are a plus). Rehearsals are informative and incredibly fun – laughter is a key component to our success! The Neighborhood Bells play at service five or six times a year. Ages 15+ welcome. Register for Neighborhood Bells here.

Neighborhood Chorus

Led by Dr. Zanaida Robles, this non-auditioned chorus is open to all adults with tuneful voices. Rooted in western classical music teaching and tradition, our repertoire consists of a wide variety of styles sung in various languages. Excellent aural skills (a good ear), classical choral experience, and/or basic sight reading skills are strongly encouraged. From September through May, the chorus rehearses every Thursday night from 7:15 pm-9:00 pm and sings at service every other Sunday. New singers begin singing regularly for Sunday service after their first 2 rehearsals. Ages 15+ welcome. Register for Neighborhood Chorus here.

Neighborhood Youth Choir

Led by Dr. Zanaida Robles, this non-auditioned ensemble is designed to help children in grades 1st-8th improve memory, critical thinking, cooperation, concentration, rhythmic coordination, and music literacy skills in a safe and stimulating UU environment. Our varied repertoire includes popular songs as well as traditional UU hymns. Each series lasts for 3-5 consecutive weeks in September-October/April-May and consists of Sunday afternoon rehearsals with participation in service on the Sunday concluding each series.
